where the two worlds touch Myra Melford Myra Melford ~ piano, harmonium Chris Speed ~ clarinet, tenor saxophone Stomu Takeishi ~ electric & acoustic bass guitar Cuong Vu ~ trumpet Kenny Wollesen ~ drums AJ0159 Where the Two Worlds Touch Inspired by the poetry of Jelaluddin Rumi, Myra chose the album's title, as well as those of several pieces, from his poems. Melford is moved by Rumi's poetry, and hopes her music will have a similar effect on her audience. Where the Two Worlds Touch depicts aspects of folk and classical music as well as jazz. Melford can be rhythmic, romantic, stoic, wry, and lusty but most of all daring - all in one tune. More importantly she's reconnected music to motion, leaving today's straight-laced young men in suits, who have dominated recent jazz in her wake. - Stuart Nicholson, The London Observer.
