
TIM COLLINS AJ0181 TIM COLLINS (vibes) grew up in the small town of Plattsburgh, NY and began playing both drums and piano at the age of 6. He began working as a drummer professionally at the age of 17. He got his first experience playing marimba and vibraphone at Ithaca College, and at the end of his freshman year, Tim performed a marimba concerto with the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra. During this same time he started working around the central NY region as a jazz vibraphonist and percussionist. In 2000, Tim moved to New York City to attend Manhattan School of Music. In 2002 he performed at the Kennedy Center as a member of the Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead concert series and later that same year he was invited to the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Academy, where he worked with Christian McBride, Benny Green, Russell Malone, and Wallace Roney. Since then, be has been leading a multi-faceted music career by freelancing as a drummer, pianist, vibraphonist, arranger and composer in addition to leading and composing for his own musical endeavors.
