This is a true live session, devoid of sweetening overdubs and after-the-fact solos. There's no questioning the band's unified approach, so amazingly empathic are the ensemble segments. Taylor's enlightened, adventurous leadership is responsible for much of this, but the stellar quality of his band-mates is a major factor.
The music. a well-chosen cross-section by some of this hemisphere's most brillaint composers, speaks fluently and forcefully.
