DOR-90106 Cover - 17377 Bytes Julius Reubke died on June 3, 1858 at the age of twenty-four in Pillnitz, near Dresden.   His name rarely appears in books of music history which may explain why so little is kmown about his life.   He was the ephemeral composer of works seldom heard: altogether just two sonatas - one for piano, the other for organ - bear witness to his genius and attest to the influence exerted upon him by his master, Franz Liszt, and most notably, by the Sonata in B Minor published in 1854.
- Jean Guillou - Translated by Lucien Gerber
