Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela
Eduardo Mata, Conductor

Dor-90211 cover - 15966 Bytes Latin American Masters - 6381 Bytes The three dance scores recorded on this disc constitute a wide sample of nationalist musical thought in Latin America.   These three ballets were written at key moments in the artistic development process of Villa-Lobos, Ginastera and Chávez, and the subject matter of their librettos refer to important themes within the framework of a search for regional and national identity: an old indigenous legend about an enchanted bird, the harsh life in the remote pampa, man's contradictory position vis-à-vis the machine-vs.-nature dichotomy.   In Uirapurú, Estancia and Horse Power Suite these three great Latin American composers left their unmistakable imprint, full of passion, energy and imagination.
