 Latin American Masters - 6381 Bytes It is indeed remarkable that Villa-Lobos wrote more concertos for the piano than the 'cello, considering that the latter was the instrument on which he had his first music lessons from his father.   The Second 'cello concerto was composed in 1953 on a commission by 'cellist Aldo Parisot, to whom the score is dedicated.
