Although the name of Augustin Barrios (1885-1944) is basically known amongst guitar players and composers for the instrument, the truth is that he certainly deserves to be more widely appreciated, not only because of his evident musical merit, but also on account of his peculiar biography and his attractive personality. Among other acheivements that have made him a true pioneer, Barrios is noted, for example, for having been the first classical guitarist to make a recording, in the year 1910.- Juan Arturo Brennan
