DOR-93203 Cover The wealth and versatility of the Russian guitar tradition is only now becoming accessible to the Western listener.   From its beginnings in the 1790's, Russian guitar culture went its own way, centering around a seven string instrument tuned D G B d g b d'.   Although the creators of this tradition were tangentially aware of the ideas and techniques of famous Western guitarists such as Sor and Giuliani, most of the surviving music is quite different in nature and style from its Western-European counterpart.
